Handweights are the secret sauce for taking your Peloton workouts up to the next level. Toning up arms and shoulders to complement the transformation that your legs, core, and glutes are getting.

The challenge is working out what the correct dumbbell weight is for you.

What do you do if you buy the wrong weight?

Too heavy and you won’t be able to lift them. Too light and you won’t feel you’re getting an effective workout.

And then, what happens when you get fitter and need a heavier weight? It’s frustrating to keep having to buy additional handweights and discard the old ones.

What happens if you have a couple weeks off (work schedule, vacation, illness) and need to re-start with a lighter weight?

It’s a problem. If you use the Peloton weights you either don’t have the option to swap out for different weights when you need them. Or it gets expensive when you keep having to buy new Peloton weights.

The official Peloton weights come in sizes 1, 2, and 3 lbs, but which weight should you buy?

A better alternative to Peloton weights

I think there’s a better alternative to the Peloton weights though and it solves all of these problems:

AmazonBasics Neoprene Hand Weights

I hate making decisions.

I do everything I can to put off making them and, when I’ve actually made a decision, I’ll then spend weeks debating with myself about whether or not it was the right thing to do.

That’s why I love finding products like this.

A full set of handweights from AmazonBasics, with a cute rack to keep them on, for a similar price to a single set of weights (in whatever size I eventually decide on) of the official Peloton ones.

Here’s the thing. If you absolutely know what weight dumbbells you need for your Peloton workouts then AmazonBasics has that weight, as a pair, in a gorgeous color.

If you want to hedge your bets and get a full set, then you can also get one from the AmazonBasics range – a 20lb set of 6 weights stored on a great stand to keep them tidy and out of the way when you don’t need them.

Each weight of dumbbells comes in a different color. That looks great but there’s also a subtle reason for it as well – it makes selecting the right ones during your workout easy. No need to hunt about looking for the weight number, just pick up the color you want and its partner and you’re away.

Coated in neoprene these are suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, so you can take them out for an LA-style workout in the back yard. Plus, because the weights are a hexagonal shape it means they won’t roll about the floor like circular handweights would.

A great alternative to the Peloton weights that will see you through your fitness journey.
