Tracking down the correct hand weights for your Peloton workouts can be quite a challenge, can’t it?
The official branded weights from Peloton come in sizes 1, 2, and 3 pounds. That’s great, but what do you do if you feel that those weights aren’t heavy enough?
If you’ve been working out on your Peloton for some time, or you’ve already got strong and well-developed arms, then you might feel that you need to graduate from those three-pounders.
The next obvious step is to go to 5 lb dumbbells, but what are the best ones to buy?
Peloton can’t help us here, so we have to look elsewhere. Trouble is that there’s lots of different options available and it can be hard to tell which are the best.
So, I’ve done some research for you and have shortlisted this big list down to a much smaller, more manageable list. Because, at the end of the day, we’ve got live-streaming classes to get to.
Let’s take a look at the details.
When you’re looking for a great quality pair of 5-pound dumbbells for Peloton classes, then you’d do well to take a close look at this set.
With a very similar construction to the Peloton hand weights, these will sit comfortably next to them on the rack. There’s one important difference though and that’s the color. These hand weights are brightly colored and that’s a real bonus as it means you can easily spot which is which on the rack (all the Peloton weights are black).
These weights are neoprene coated for a soft grip and wipe-clean finish. They also have hexagonal ends to them. This not only looks good but means that they won’t roll away from you when you put them down. Unlike dumbbells that have rounded weights on each end.
Comfortable to hold, they measure 7.4” total length by 2.82 diameter. The grip is 1.4” diameter, with a circumference of 4.4”, and a width of 3.5”. If you’re looking to add further weights to your rack, then these are also available in pound sizes: 1/2/3/7/8/10/12.
An excellent choice 5 lb weight for your Peloton and great value.
If you have a single-minded totally-focused approach to your workouts, then you’ll be well placed to go straight to the 5 lb hand weights I’ve just mentioned.
However…if you’re a little more like me and are prone to the odd bit of procrastination here and there… Maybe a little indecision thrown in. Possibly feeling like you might be sitting on the fence occasionally…
If so, then it might be good to consider getting a set of weights, rather than a single weight. The reason for this is that some days you might be feeling a little stronger, some days a little more lethargic, and some days you’ll be right in the middle.
We often vary like this, a little above, a little below. So, it’s worth taking a look at this full set of hand weights from BalanceFrom.
The set contains 3 pairs of dumbbells. In the middle, you have the 5 lb weights. Then either side of this you have a pair of 3 lb weights and a pair of 8 lb weights. These are all neoprene-coated, with hex heads, and come with a handy rack to keep them stored on. Total weight for the dumbbells of 32 lbs.
A great choice for those who are (like me) a little indecisive now and again!
Whether you decide to go with a single dumbbell weight or a full rack, there are some great choices available for your Peloton workouts.
If you’re certain that 5 lbs is your weight, then the first choice is perfect. If you fluctuate a little around the 5 lb mark, then it might be a good idea to go for the weights set instead.
Whichever you decide to go with I’d like to wish you the best of luck and happiness for your fitness path.
Enjoy your journey.
